'Home insurance prevents Valentine's Day disasters'
Failing to ensure you have sufficient home insurance cover could make Valentine's Day a disaster, a leading insurance provider has warned.
According to recent studies, the most popular day of the year on which to propose marriage is February 14th.
Meanwhile, the average spend on an engagement ring is around a month's salary.
Should a potential spouse lose the ring or find it is stolen, they could be facing a significant financial loss and worse still turn what ought to have been a happy occasion into a day to forget, Defaqto warns.
Suitors planning on going down on one knee should therefore make sure they have covered themselves for such a grim eventuality, Mike Powell, a general insurance consultant at Defaqto, said.
Mr Powell advised: "By taking a few minutes to check your insurance cover, you can cover your losses from unforeseen problems and help ensure that you and your loved one have a Valentine's Day to remember, for all the best reasons."
