Financial New Year's resolutions prove durable
Britons are better at keeping financial New Year's resolutions, such as saving cash rather than frittering it on luxuries, than more traditional pledges to change their lifestyle, it has been revealed.
According to a poll conducted by Unbiased.co.uk, 25 per cent of Britons who pledged to mend their ways with such shaky declarations as quitting smoking or getting fit have now given up on their promises.
Conversely, financial resolutions have proved more durable, with just 18 per cent having fallen by the wayside since January 1st.
Those who have yielded to their old free-spending non-saving ways would have found it easier to keep their promises had they sought financial advice, according to David Elms, chief executive of Unbiased.co.uk, said.
"It is encouraging to see how many people intend to get their finances in order in 2008, however it is all too easy to let good intentions go to waste.
"Setting manageable goals and seeking professional independent advice from an IFA could encourage you to persevere with your resolutions and improve your finances."
