Ethical Isa schemes grow in appeal
Increasing numbers of UK consumers are mulling investing in an independent savings account (Isa) which is tied to ethical investments, according to a poll.
A study conducted by Co-operative Insurance found that 85 per cent of Britons currently looking to invest in an Isa would consider an ethical scheme.
This represents an 18 per cent rise from last year, when just 67 per cent identified such schemes as possible location for the funds.
According to Zack Hocking, head of investment at Co-operative Insurance, the upward trend in interest in the products will become even more marked in years to come.
He predicted: "While ethical investment still represents a small amount of the overall market, evidence strongly suggests that growth is set to continue.
"We expect to see significant interest from customers wanting to invest their Isa allowance ethically as the deadline approaches."
Data from Co-operative Bank shows that the amount held in ethical personal finance products rose by 15 per cent last year to £13.3 billion.
