Barclays taps into Isa demand
Barclays Stockbrokers is seeking to tap into demand for new savings products as the end of the financial year approaches.
The financial services firm today announced its Investment Isa, a new offering for the 2008/9 tax year.
Barclays said its new Isa would offer customers the flexibility to choose between different risk profiles, which it expects to be appealing in an uncertain economic climate.
"It is little surprise that given recent market activity many investors are unsure as to how they should invest their Isa allowance this year," said Amy Nauiokas, head of Barclays Stockbrokers.
" Isas are an important tax-efficient addition to any investment portfolio and we believe investors should be offered a wide choice of products and detailed information on these products in order for them to make a considered decision in this area."
Barclays and other providers will face a tough job this year convincing people to save, as the cost of living is putting household budgets under pressure.
Research has shown that many people are already relying on short-term credit to cover day-to-day outgoings.
