Winter sunseekers 'should beware of card charges'
Any UK residents keen on catching some continental sun rays during the winter season could be well advised to consider a personal loan over credit card spending.
The most recent research from the Post Office reveals that consumers using credit cards abroad could be bringing home more than they bargained for in the shape of a personal finance hangover.
It states that those using their cards abroad are being charged an average 2.75 per cent on top of all their purchases - which could lead to the need for increased help with money later.
Post Office director of lending Gary Fitton said: "Regardless of where people are travelling to this Christmas we are urging holidaymakers to ensure the only baggage they return with is the luggage they are carrying and not unnecessary card charges."
In related money news, price comparisons site uSwitch has stated that British holidaymakers currently pay as much as £759 million in charges when using their cards overseas each year.
