UK property 'hotspots' named for 2008
A number of hotspots have been identified around the UK as areas in which property prices are expected to increase considerably over the next 12 months.
Anyone looking to compare mortgages could be interested to know that Halifax Estate Agents believes that the planned regeneration efforts in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics will have a positive impact on the house prices in parts of the south-east of England.
In addition, houses located close to the route of the planned Crossrail development in the south-east of England are also set to see an increase in 2008, the financial services firm suggests.
Colin Kemp, managing director at Halifax Estate Agents, said: "Some areas will continue to be in high demand next year with property prices rising accordingly despite the expected subdued outlook across the market as a whole.
"A number of areas will see a boost to prices as a result of significant infrastructure projects."
Meanwhile, the Nationwide Building Society recently reported that St Albans has maintained its position as the area in the UK with most expensive average house price.
