Rental demand 'to rise in 2008'
Demand for rented property in 2008 could rise slightly, although it is unlikely that a marked rush will be in evidence.
So claims Landlordzone.co.uk, which states that demand is likely to be nothing more than "reasonable".
In finance news that may be of interest to those seeking help with money in the buy-to-let market, the company asserted that rising repossessions would have a bearing on the marketplace.
Tom Entwistle, editor of the website, remarks: "There's definite evidence of [repossession] coming on a considerable scale - anyone affected is going to be looking for somewhere to live and renting is likely to be the only option here."
He added that the market was likely to remain difficult for first-time buyers - for many of whom renting is the only viable option.
In conclusion, Mr Entwistle said that while a "tough couple of years" lay ahead for many in the property market, help with finance resulting from an easier property environment could be on the horizon in the long run.
According to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, rental growth reached a peak in September of this year.
