RBS offers emergency taxi cash
With the Christmas season approaching and celebrations in full swing, many people will be looking to travel by taxi in the coming days.
And one bank has developed a way of ensuring sufficient funds are available for such trips, even if the reveller finds that their debit card has been lost or stolen.
The Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest are both offering an "emergency cash" service for those who find themselves stranded.
Due to operate for free until Friday January 14th and for a fee of £5 from then onwards, anyone calling the banks' Lost and Stolen Helpline will be given the opportunity to ask for the service.
Upon successfully answering three stringent security questions, they will be given a single-use personal identification number (Pin) to be used at any cashpoint owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
Paul Geddes, chief executive of consumer banking at the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, says: "We introduced the new emergency cash service to provide customers with a lifeline when they have lost their debit card or had it stolen and need urgent access to the funds in their bank account."
Early this month, the group released the money news that it had installed 460 new cash machines intended to benefit local economies, which have so far handled more than one million transactions.
