New year's resolutions show growing green concerns
The desire to lead more ecologically-aware lifestyle is showing itself in people's new year's resolutions, according to one personal finance firm.
Friends Provident has released research indicating that top of the list this year will be turning off electrical appliances that are not in use - saving the environment as well as providing valuable help with money.
Meanwhile, attempting to recycle more efficiently and composting household waste are activities also cited buy respondents to the survey.
Making up the top four was a promise to invest in more energy-efficient equipment for the home.
Julia Dreblow, socially responsible investment marketing manager at Friends Provident, said: "Without a doubt green issues will be on Brits' minds more than ever in 2008, many of which have new year's resolutions to live greener lives, ranging from being more environmentally friendly in their homes to being more ethically minded when they shop."
The personal finance firm's data suggests that 31 to 35-year olds show the most concern about the environment in their resolution, closely followed by those aged between 22 and 25.
