Men and women 'should save equally'
There are no differences between the savings that men and women should be making to avoid needing help with finance in the future, it has been claimed.
AWD Chase de Vere, a firm of independent personal finance advisers, states that women should make sure that their savings are in the most appropriate vehicle to ensure they get the best help with finance possible.
Susan Hannums, savings manager for the company, said: "Once you've worked out exactly how much you can afford to save, make sure that you've used all of your available tax-free, tax-efficient savings vehicles."
Examples of such useful products include individual savings accounts (ISAs), which provide a tax-free saving opportunity to all those seeking help with money.
The finance news follows a recent report from the Fawcett Society that warned that women were more likely to struggle financially in the wake of a divorce than their former partners due to a lack of savings.
