Legal & General urges bag assessment
Many people may not realise the full value of the possessions that they carry around with them on a daily basis, it has been claimed.
According to new research from Legal & General, the average 30-year-old woman spends between £185 and £380 on her handbag, not including its contents.
With gadgets and other contents taken into account, the figure can rise to £1,500 in some cases - meaning that losing or having the bag stolen can be a true personal finance disaster.
The company is urging consumers to ensure that they have enough cover so that they don't find themselves in need to help with money should the unfortunate occur.
Ruth Wilkins, head of communications at Legal & General's general insurance business, states: "It is extremely upsetting to have a handbag or the contents stolen.
"So rather than realise that you are not insured we suggest people check that they have cover now and that it is adequate to cover the cost of replacement."
However, it is not just adults whose bags are costly - in related finance news esure has recently calculated the average cost of a school bag to be £265.
