Landlords 'could suffer from flat surplus'
The number of flats currently on the market in the UK suggests oversupply - which could mean some investors are not getting the help with money they hoped for.
According to Landlordzone.co.uk, it will be those investors who put their funds into the market speculatively who will be hardest hit by the high number of unwanted properties.
The company, which provides help with finance and related advice to buy-to-let investors, states that those who have entered the market as a business could profit from the fall in house prices.
Meanwhile, those who "jumped on the bandwagon" could potentially suffer and find themselves in need of help with money.
Tom Entwistle, editor of the site, comments: "People invested in [property] thinking the prices were just going to go up and up and up.
"They have just got to come down now."
He added that the squeeze was likely to result in a number of landlords lowering their standards with regards to the type of tenant they would take on.
The finance news follows a comment from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors which indicates that demand for flats has fallen due to oversupply in the market.
