Insurance 'important for travellers'
It is important for people considering taking a bargain holiday in the new year to make sure they invest in a travel insurance policy, Sainsbury's Bank has stated.
Some 12 million people are expected to book a holiday before the end of February, with many taking advantage of post-Christmas sales to bag a bargain on a winter vacation.
However, the bank's research found that more than one-quarter of all people planning a holiday do not intend to shop around for travel insurance, either choosing to book it through their holiday provider or not at all.
"While it's easy to get excited about shopping around for destinations, resorts and even flights, travel insurance should not be ignored or accepted as merely an add-on," said Steve Johnson, head of travel insurance at Sainsbury's.
He added that people should not feel rushed to purchase insurance directly from a travel agent, but should take care to shop around for the best deals that meet their specific needs.
