Hips 'are weakened by the omission of HCRs'
Home information packs (Hips) would provide far greater help with money to consumers if a home condition report (HCR) was included, it has been claimed.
Industry firm Hip Hip Hooray stated that at present the packs are only slightly as useful as they might be due to the omission of HCRs.
While the energy performance certificate may be useful in providing details about the heat efficiency of a home, but the condition report was the part of the product that represented a real boon for buyers.
Leslie Sorridimi of Hip Hip Hooray, said: "Consumers will only see a really tremendous difference when the Home Condition Report is made a mandatory part of the Hip.
"The Hip is only a third of the document that it could be since the Home Condition Report has been left out of it."
Hips are set to become a mandatory part of the house-selling process from December 14th.
