Hips criticism 'will decrease'
Current levels of criticism for the government's home information pack (Hip) scheme will die down in the coming months as they become normalised in the housebuying process.
Such is the prediction of Hip Hip Hooray, a company which believes that the current furore about the packs will subside in the same way that controversy about the Right to Buy scheme did.
The undertaking has been the subject of much criticism throughout the year, from bodies such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) and the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), as a result of delays and changes to the contents of the pack.
In particular, the removal of the home condition report from Hips drew criticism from many corners of the industry - a fact which Hip Hip Hooray acknowledged.
Leslie Sorridimi, spokesperson for the firm, comments: "The people at Rics and the NAEA have been putting up such a fight and what they are not doing is any favours for the agents that are who are on the ground having to deal with it. They are the ones that have to cope with the negative press."
As of Friday December 14th, all homes being put on the market have been required to commission a Hip, marking the culmination of a rollout which has been conducted since August.
