Halifax announces carbon labelling for Web Saver
One personal finance institution in the UK is celebrating today, having stated that it is the first such banking organisation to carbon label a product.
The help with money consumers receive from Halifax's Web Saver product comes at an environmental cost of 204 grams of greenhouse gas emissions each year.
The firm states that it has now committed to reducing this figure within two years - finance news likely to be of interest to those seeking help with money as well as the 1.1 million consumers who already use the account.
Mike Regnier, Head of Savings at Halifax, said: "With today's launch of our carbon label for Web Saver, we are committed to reducing the product's carbon emissions within two years.
"We are proud to be working with the Carbon Trust to make that commitment, and believe we are the first bank in Europe to carbon label one its products."
