Faster lifestyles 'are changing banking relationships'
Changes in the way that people bank reflect the faster pace of modern life, one personal finance institution has stated.
According to the British Bankers' Association (BBA), the increased take-up of online banking and other high-speed sources of help with money is testament to the greater pace at which people conduct their daily lives.
Meanwhile, consumers needing help with finance rarely use face-to-face services in banks any more - a fact backed up by recent data from Lloyds TSB that suggested more than 50 per cent of the British public had not seen their bank manager for more than ten years.
Lesley McLeod, spokesperson for the BBA, said: "Bank managers and staff are on hand if you want that and to that extent it is exactly as it has always been.
"Most people would not want to return to a draconian system - particularly women who used to find banks very intimidating."
The money news from Lloyds TSB stated that just over a third (34 per cent) of consumers had been to speak with their bank manager in the last two years.
