Credit Cards 'can provide flexibility at Christmas'
Credit cards can offer a useful means of carrying out Christmas shopping, it has been claimed.
Personal finance provider Sainsbury's Bank has stated that, when it comes to buying festive gifts, credit cards can offer flexible help with money that can be invaluable to shoppers.
Meanwhile, a variety of other types of help with finance are available on different cards, such as zero per cent deals on purchases, allowing borrowers to manage their Christmas budget carefully.
Donald MacLeod, head of cards at Sainsbury's Bank, said: "Cards are a very convenient way of doing your Christmas shopping. They can be good for two things: one so you don't have to carry wads of cash around.
"{Two,] they're very flexible, so if you see something that you really want to get somebody, then you have that flexibility there to do that."
Mr McLeod added that he was surprised that consumer spending had risen during the Christmas period this year, given that media comment in recent weeks had suggested a squeeze that has not materialised.
