Credit cards 'can offer protection for expensive online purchases'
Electing to use a credit card when buying expensive goods online can provide help with finance through increased protection, it has been claimed.
According to personal finance commentator Consumer Direct, items valued at more than £100 are subject to higher levels of protection from ID fraud.
Rules which provide such added help with money are detailed in the Consumer Credit Act, a spokesperson for the firm explained.
He also provided further advice for people looking to make purchases online, remarking: "Use security software and keep it up to date. Look for a padlock symbol on the screen or the https in the website title which will tell that you're on a secure site."
In related money news, the Office of Fair Trading has stated that many shoppers do not make the most of protection available to them when shopping online.
For instance, some do not know how to ensure security of their details, while others are unaware of their cancellation rights.
