British gas price hike 'does not bode well'
Consumers using the market tracker energy plan offered by British Gas will see charges rise from today, it has been reported.
Price comparisons site uSwitch has stated that gas prices will increase by 13 per cent and electricity rates will be hiked by 15 per cent.
Tim Wolfenden, head of home services at the finance news company, stated that the move follows the first quarterly review of the product undertaken by the provider - and that it could be an indicator of likely market changes.
"Those who have signed up may be disappointed that only a few months in and prices are already going up," Mr Wolfenden observed.
"But if market rumours turn into reality then many more consumers may be facing the same disappointment too."
In related money news, uSwitch recently observed that the recent green energy rating system devised by regulator Ofgem needs to be mandatory if it is to succeed in providing help in understanding money and environmental matters.
