Brits book breaks early to save money
Britons are booking their holidays for next year in a bid to save money, it has been revealed.
According to holiday company Milestones, travellers are booking now in a bid to avoid the pound falling against the euro in months to come.
Milestones' general manager Matt Clapson told the Associated Press: "With fears that the global economic situation isn't going to dramatically alter in the coming months, people are looking to lock in their 2009 holidays.
"This year, rising prices in continental Europe have led to a surge in interest in non-euro countries such as Turkey."
The firm also detected that holidaymakers booking breaks for this year have opted to shun countries where the euro is used in favour of farther flung locales that are cheaper.
Consumers' canny attempts at saving cash comes amid increasing pressure on household incomes due to the soaring cost of living.
