The Yorkshire launches new e-bonds
Yorkshire Building Society has today launched a series of new internet-based savings bonds.
The fixed rate bonds are available for a limited time only and offer a rate of 6.2 per cent AER.
They are only available to open online with a minimum deposit of £100 required.
The firm claims that the chief benefit of operating the bond online is that savers will be able to deposit funds electronically via their debit card.
This will enable them to earn interest days faster than would have been the case had they deposited money by cheque.
David Jackson, Yorkshire's head of e-commerce, said "Increasingly people value the flexibility offered by the internet and the convenience of managing their lifestyle at a time and place that suits them.
"Every aspect of the new bond can be processed from a laptop without the requirement of printers and postal services, which I believe meets the demands of today's consumer."
The bonds are available offering a range of terms from six months to five years.
