Road rage insurance cover is 'becoming more important'
With road rage incidents on the rise, motorists have been urged to consider a policy that includes cover for loss and injuries sustained in confrontations with other road users.
According to a study conducted by MoneyExpert.com, one in six drivers has been the victim of a road rage incident in the last six months.
Meanwhile, 300,000 of those had sustained damage to their vehicle as they faced down the ire of the other party.
Statistics such as these testify to the rise of the motoring contretemps, according to the site, which means it is increasingly prudent to ensure that your policy makes provisions for road rage.
Among the policies recommended by MoneyExpert.com are those from Sainsbury's Bank, which pay up to £1,000 to drivers who are assaulted, and Sheila's Wheels which pays for counselling services.
Sean Gardner, chief executive at the site, said: "Shouting and swearing at other motorists is bad enough but damaging other drivers' cars is beyond the pale.
"Our study did not thankfully find any evidence of physical assault but that is perhaps more down to luck than anything else. The fact that one in six of us has suffered from road rage is worrying."
