Post Office launches Fiveyear Saver bond
The Post Office has re-launched its Fiveyear Saver fixed term deposit bond for savers seeking longer-term investments.
Under the terms of the bond, savers benefit from a 5.5 per cent interest rate on half of their deposit.
Meanwhile, the other half is tied to the FTSE 100 index with the size of the return depending on its growth.
The lender claims that the dual investment system makes it "ideal for investors made cautious by the recent stock market jitters".
Post Office director of savings and investments Richard Norman said: "With the current volatility of the stock market people are understandably wary about risking their hard-earned savings in direct investments, but they still want their money to be working as hard as it can for them.
"Our five year savings bond provides savers with the security they need now but still gives them the opportunity to make good returns in the future."
The bond is available for a limited time only from 28th April 2008 and 28th June 2008.
