New instant access savings account from Abbey
Abbey has launched a new instant access savings account as it looks to attract more of its funding from customer deposits.
The account offers a rate of 6.5 per cent gross on all balances above £1,000 with savers entitled to access the account on an unlimited number of occasions.
After the first 12 months, the account reverts to a rate of interest of 5.5 per cent.
Customers are able to manage the account either via their branch or by telephone.
Reza Attar-Zadeh, Director of Savings and Investments at Abbey, said: "This is an exceptional rate for a telephone access account.
"Now customers who like to manage their accounts by telephone or in-branch can benefit from rates normally only seen on online accounts."
Abbey has also recently confirmed the launch of a new Super Saver Account which features a rate of 9.1 per cent and requires savers to keep the money in the account for 12 months.
