Isa investors flock to emerging market and commodities funds
UK investors are taking chances when investing in independent savings accounts (Isas), according to data from Skipton Financial Services.
New figures from Skipton show that the best selling Isas on the firm's execution-only fund supermarket in the last tax year were Gartmore China Opportunities, JPM Natural Resources, Allianz RCM BRIC Stars and Neptune Russia & Greater Russia.
This marks a sea change from the previous year when UK equity income funds to emerging market and commodities funds were the most popular.
Simon Holt, managing director of Skipton Financial Services, commented: "It is remarkable that, despite the volatility of the global equity markets, our clients are putting their faith in emerging markets and commodities funds.
"Clearly the more sophisticated investors understand the buying opportunities and the benefits of buying cheaply into long-term growth potential."
He added: "It will be fascinating to see in a year's time where Skipton FS investors think the next big money making opportunity will be."
