Halifax launches new "green" credit card
Consumers can help the environment while enjoying the convenience of paying by credit card with the launch of a new product from the Halifax.
The new credit card has been developed in conjunction with smart ad the Woodland Trust "to provide a practical solution to a better environment", according to the company.
To this end, the first use of the card will see £20 given to the Woodland Trust to help restore 100 metres of ancient woodland
Other eco-friendly features include an option of paperless statements and the use of the carbon neutral plastic for the card itself.
Meanwhile, financial terms of the card are zero per cent interest on balance transfers for nine months, and a six month interest free period on purchases, after which point interest is charged at 16.9 per cent APR.
Adrian Bryant, head of marketing for Halifax credit cards, said: "This is a unique card combining two great features - carbon neutral plastic as well as a donation to the woodland trust.
"The card also offers an attractive introductory offer and a competitive APR."
