Eco-improvements can cut energy bills
Consumers can save hundreds of pounds per year by making eco-friendly improvements around the home, it has been claimed.
According to Nigel Berman, founder of specialist retailer Nigel's Eco Store, simple to implement changes can help cut heating, energy and grocery bills by £400 annually.
This saving could be crucial in the current financial climate, he claims, with consumers facing higher mortgage payments and increased energy bills.
The largest saving (£100) can be made by opting for energy saving lightbulbs, while purchasing a radiator booster and an eco ball can result in savings of £98 and £74 respectively.
Meanwhile, an eco-button and standby device for electrical gadgets bring a combined cut to bills of £87.
Mr Berman explained: "I think that money-saving and energy-saving kind of go hand in hand.
"I think if homeowners can make energy savings then obviously their costs are going to go down."
Earlier this week it was reported that energy companies are preparing to impose 25 per cent increases on gas and electricity tariffs by the end of the summer.
This would bring the average household's annual bill to £1,250.
