Brits daydreaming of fantasy homes
Signs that the housing market is slowing this year has not dented Britons' fantasies of owing a dream home, it has been revealed.
Latterly, reports have indicated a gloomy mood in the sector with the average price of a home having fallen for the last five months in a row.
However, according to a survey conducted by Legal & General this has not unduly affected consumers, some 60 per cent of whom are still hankering after their dream homes.
Of these the most sought-after home is a home with character in the country, which 20 per cent of those sampled aspired to owing.
Almost as popular was a detached home with a garden in the suburbs, polling 18 per cent of the vote.
Garry Skelton from Legal & General: "The survey would indicate that people are still quite positive about the future housing market given the number of respondents who still wish to live in their dream home.
"However, probably reflecting financial concerns, the number of Brits who do not expect to ever live in their dream home has risen from just over 20 per cent to 30 per cent since the last survey."
