Bradford & Bingley launches "market leading" bond
Bradford & Bingley has announced the launch of a new fixed rate bond for savers looking to insulate themselves against cuts in interest rates.
The six-month fixed-rate bond offers investors a rate of 6.81 per cent AER, which the firm claims makes it among the market leaders.
Entry to the bond is conditional on a minimum deposit of £1,000, with issuing operating on a first come first served basis.
Paul Whitlock, head of savings at Bradford & Bingley, said that with some analysts predicting that the Bank of England could cut the key base rate of interest by as much as one per cent this year, the bond offers savers the peace of mind of a stable return on their money.
He added: "Our six-month fixed rate bond offers savers a market-leading home for their money and a great opportunity to lock into a highly competitive fixed rate at a time when potential base rate falls are on the horizon.
"A rate this great won't be available for long so savers should take advantage of it while they can to avoid disappointment."
